Located among the hills and on the shore of Lake Hámori in Lillafüred, Hotel Palota Lillafured is set in a neo-renaissance castle built in 1930. The 4-star hotel features a free spa and wellness centre with an indoor pool, sauna and hot tub. Free WiFi access is available in all areas.

An idyllic place with lots of charm and character.

I stayed on half board and the breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent. The hotel is an interesting building with lots of character in a really lovely setting. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Superb hotel in every way!

OMG, everything!! This hotel is so magical that it’s amazing! The dinner and breakfast buffets were spectacular, the location is perfect, and the facilities are spotless. Don’t hesitate to book here!!

Food is great. Position of the hotel, whit car, is excellent. Many activity in the hotel and around. Spa is great. Clean and quite room. Staff is super helpfull.

wonderful historical building newly renovated suite dinner was very good lobby bar very nice live music at breakfast

water in the pool was very cold even for swimming breakfast hours should be prolonged at least up to 10.30 and especially during the weekends

Lovely hotel, with amazing grounds and decor. Perfect for an escape for chilling and hiking.

The grounds around the property were lovely to walk around in the snow. We especially enjoyed the outside chess board, where we had a good game in active snow. There also was a chess board found inside the lobby, next to the wood burning fireplace. Add this to the lovely cocktails from the bar, and it added up to a brilliant night in.

Food is unfortunately not up to our standards. Plenty of choice, but lacked taste and originality. Housekeeping did not clean the coffee mugs and wine glasses throughout the stay and coffee/tea sachets were not replaced. The double bed, was in fact two single beds joined up. With two separate duvets. No free water bottles.

The beautiful hotel, the history and the location were outstanding

The showers were either scorching hot or freezing cold and had no pressure. The lady at the gym was most unwelcoming

Amazing hotel location surrounded by beautiful forests, little villages, a lake and waterfall. Great choices of food and very clean wellness facilities.

The hotel would benefit from a refurbishment.

Exceptional

Unfortunately I spent on 1 night in the hotel, but definitely will return with family. The location is superb, surrounded by mountains and forests. A lake is nearby and a waterfall close enough, you can sense the nature. Breakfast is excellent, lot of local specialties. A feeling of long gone era, yet still modern.

I regret that I did not have enough time to try the restaurant, spa and explore more the surroundings

Awesome

Grand historic hotel with nice period designs and furnishings in the public areas, but also modern, clean and renovated in the rooms. Beautiful hotel grounds and surroundings - great location with all notable sights of Lillafured within walking distance. Perfect silence during the night, absolutely relaxing sleep.

The bathroom shower sink took some time to empty the water. Also it would be nice to have a kettle in the room - but when we asked for it we got one in 5 minutes. Since we were there on a busy weekend the parking was a little busy but could always find a slot besides the designated hotel parking area anyway. Cannot really mention anything more significant..

Very nice hotel & surroundings

A bit expensive. Also games (such as playing pool) were not free. The prettiest restaurant room with colored windows was not accessible (either for a wedding or closed). Also it was not clear how to reach the terrasse (we found a way)

Very Good

Perfect location, pretty nice and caring staff, charming ambience and a truly unique experience that takes you back to the early nineteens.

Guitar play during breakfast and dinner was so cosy, we absolutely loved that. The quality of the food was though under the standard one would expect in a hotel like this. No offence, it was good, even the sortiment was wide, still with a little more care (e.g. using fresh veggies and pasta instead of frozen and pre-packed ones) you could improve a lot. And additional suggestion, there is no need to serve wild salmon (it would definitely be a dissapointment for those ever tasted real, freshly caught ones) and things like that when you have access to fresh trouts just a few hundred meters from you. The simple/fresh the better.

Beautiful location, and the hotel building itself is spectacular. Breakfast and dinner are pretty good.

Some of the staff are rather surly. In particular, one grumpy old man in the spa enforces the poorly-marked “kids pool” with the sadistic enthusiasm of a Gestapo officer. The sign marking this pool as a “kids pool” is off to the side and ambiguously worded in English (it could either mean that 14-year old children can ONLY use the pool when accompanied by an adult, or it could mean that ONLY 14-year old children can use the pool when accompanied by an adult). Nevertheless, this guy takes it upon himself to shoo adults out of the pool in a very hostile manner, even trying to physically remove my wife, who has MS, when she didn’t move fast enough for his liking.

The jewel of Lillafüred

Hotel Palota is one of the best hotels in Hungary ! Since its inaguration in the 1930 has attracted many famous people, writers, poets, filmstars. In the hotels teracce gardens there is a wonderful summary of the hotels history and all the famous people with pictures, citations and sculptures. Everything is accessable even for the general public. The hotel has its own waterfall and gardens, a famous cave and of course also spa facilities. In the palace tower there is akso a small museum about the building. the nearby Hamori lake you can have a nice boat paddling adventure. Live guitar music accompanies the breakfast.
